FAQ

All you need to know about renting with CILLA HIRE & CO

  • Standard cleaning is included in your hire price at CILLA HIRE & CO (unless the item is in need of extra cleaning)
    Please do not attempt to clean or wash outfits yourself without prior consultation, as incorrect laundering can cause further damage to the garment.

    Outfits returned with excessive staining and/or odour that require specialised cleaning will incur an additional cleaning fee, depending on the severity.

    Excessive staining and/or odour includes, but is not limited to:

    • Red wine
    • Fake tan
    • Makeup
    • Grass
    • Double-sided tape residue
    • Dirt or mud
    • blood
    • Oil or food stains
    • Ink
    • Liquid stains
    • Body odour
    • Tobacco or smoke smells

  • Accidents do happen, and we understand this. If an issue occurs with your hired outfit, please contact CILLA HIRE & CO immediately. The sooner we are notified—particularly in the case of significant staining—the easier it is for us to address the issue promptly and help prevent further damage.

    Please do not attempt to clean or treat the outfit yourself without prior approval from us. Incorrect cleaning methods can permanently set stains or cause further damage, resulting in higher repair costs or, in extreme cases, the need for full garment replacement. If an item requires replacement, a fee equal to the full recommended retail price (RRP) of the garment will apply.

    The hirer is responsible for all costs associated with repairing outfits that are returned damaged or excessively marked.

    All damage assessments are made at the discretion of CILLA HIRE & CO. If a garment is deemed unrentable, a fee equal to the full RRP of the item will apply, in addition to any loss of income from future bookings that can no longer proceed.

    If a garment remains rentable but the damage impacts its appearance, longevity, or future hire potential, the hirer will be required to pay a portion of the RRP, in addition to all repair and cleaning costs.

  • For insurance purposes, all postal orders require a refundable bond equal to the hire fee, as well as a copy of the front and back of the hirer’s valid photo identification (driver’s licence).

    The bond is payable in addition to the hire and will be refunded in full once the outfit has been returned, inspected, and approved in accordance with CILLA HIRE & CO Terms and Conditions.

    Orders are considered confirmed only once the bond and identification have been received.
    Outfits will not be dispatched until both requirements are provided. Failure to supply the bond and ID may result in dispatch delays.

  • When Will My Outfit Arrive?

    Weekend hires are posted via Australia Post Express on Monday or Tuesday, depending on how quickly the outfit is ready from the previous hire, unless otherwise arranged.

    Delivery to major cities usually takes 1–2 business days, and regional areas around 2–3 business days. These are estimates only and may be affected by delays such as natural events, high-volume periods, or courier disruptions.

    Orders are dispatched from Adelaide CBD (postcode 5000). It is the hirer’s responsibility to check delivery timeframes and inform CILLA HIRE & CO of any potential delays when retuning garment.

    How Do I Return the Outfit?

    All postal returns must be lodged at a post office by 3 pm on the next business day following your event to ensure your bond is not affected.

    Please return the outfit in the same parcel you received it in. Use the sealing strip provided to reseal the parcel, then place the return label included inside your parcel over the original shipping label.

    Helpful tips:

    • Double-check that the outfit is clean and in the same condition as when you received it.
    • Keep your tracking receipt from the post office until your return has been confirmed.
    • Late returns or damaged returns may affect your bond or incur additional fees.

  • We understand that sometimes parcels can be delayed. If your order is delayed by Australia Post, you will be eligible for a full credit of the hire priceprovided the outfit is returned by the following business day and in the same condition it was received.

    Please note: orders delayed or not shipped due to failure to provide your bond and identification, or last-minute hires, are not eligible for refunds or credits.

    It is the hirer’s responsibility to check estimated postage timeframes on the Australia Post website before placing an order. Delays caused by the courier, public holidays, extreme weather, or other unforeseen circumstances are outside our control.

    We strongly recommend that parcels are sent to an address where someone will be available to receive the parcel. If no one is home, parcels may be redirected to a post office, left in a safe place at the courier’s discretion, or returned to us.

    Additional points to help you:

    • Always track your parcel — tracking numbers are provided with every postal hire.
    • Inspect the outfit immediately upon arrival and notify us if there are any issues.
    • Ensure that return postage is arranged promptly to avoid late fees.

  • Collection Location

    All collections and returns are made at Saint Clair.

    Weekend Hire Collection Times

    • Weekend Hires:
      • Thursday: 8:00 am – 11:00 am | 1:00 pm – 4:15 pm
      • Friday: 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm
      • Saturday: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
    • Mid-Week Hires: By appointment the day before your event

    You will receive a message prior to your event to confirm collection.

    Mid-week hire collections are by appointment the day prior to the event.

    Notes:

    • Alternative collection times can be arranged on request.
    • You may send someone to collect on your behalf.
    • Photo ID (e.g., driver’s licence) must be presented to receive the outfit.

    Return Instructions

    All returns are made via the return chute at the rear of the boutique during open hours.

    • Friday – Sunday Events: Outfits must be returned within 48 hours of your event:
      • Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
      • Monday: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
    • Monday – Thursday Events: Outfits must be returned the day after your event. A specific return timeframewill be provided at collection.

    You may also have someone return the outfit on your behalf.

    Late Returns

    • The return chute is not accessible outside the above hours, but you may still return the outfit at any time during boutique opening hours.
    • Failure to return the outfit on time will incur a $30 late fee per day, until the outfit is returned in acceptable condition.

  • Once the hire fee is paid, the sale is finalCILLA HIRE & CO does not provide refunds for change of mind, sickness, event cancellation, or incorrect sizing.

    Standard Cancellations:
    If you need to cancel your hire, you may be eligible for a 70% credit of the hire fee, valid for six months from the original event date, provided at least 14 days’ notice is given prior to the event.

    Special Circumstances:
    In certain situations, such as government restrictions, serious illness, or other exceptional circumstances, a full creditmay be provided. Proof of the cancellation or restriction must be supplied.

    Non-Refundable Portion:
    For standard cancellations, 30% of the hire fee is non-refundable, covering preparation, loss of hire, and administrative costs ect.

  • For insurance and security purposesCILLA HIRE & CO requires all customers to provide photographic identification (such as a driver’s licence) when hiring an outfit. This ensures we can confirm the identity of the hirer and protects both the customer and our business in the event of damage, loss, or disputes.

    Important: The ID provided must show a current residential address.

    Additional Notes:

    • If someone is collecting on your behalf, they must also provide valid photo ID.
    • ID must match the name used on the hire order.
    • Failure to provide identification or a current address may delay collection or prevent the outfit from being released.
    • All identification information is kept strictly confidential, stored securely during the hire process, and destroyed once the hire is complete.
    • We never share your personal information with third parties, except as required by law.
